Modern children enjoy spending time playing computer games, watching TV or chatting on social networks. The book was not even relegated to the background, but to the last. It is pushed to the far corner and is taken in hand only to complete a school assignment. How do you instill in your child an interest in reading? How can you explain that a book is not a waste of time?

Step 1
Buy books from the very birth of the baby, look at the drawings with him, say out loud what is depicted on them. Read to him every day, but little by little, so as not to tire. In this case, the child will know that the book is an essential attribute of life, it is interesting and instructive.
Step 2
Choose age-appropriate books. For the smallest, baby books are suitable, for kindergarten age - bright and colorful fairy tales, for schoolchildren - stories about animals and nature, adventures, children's stories.
Step 3
Provide children with books that interest them. Everyone's development is different: someone at the age of 12 may still get carried away with fairy tales, while the other at 9 is reading adventure novels. Some want to learn about dinosaurs, others about ghosts, and still others about wild animals. Find out what your baby is interested in and buy books on this topic, thereby developing horizons and instilling a love of reading.
Step 4
Don't force your child to read. By doing this, you can cause in him a negative attitude towards the book; on a psychological level, he will begin to associate it with punishment.
Step 5
Use a variety of tricks to awaken your desire for reading. For example, watch a cartoon and invite your child to read a fairy tale based on which he was filmed. Read interesting role books, turning this activity into a fun game.
Step 6
Discuss what you have read with your child, ask questions, find out the main idea of the work, draw conclusions. Then the kid will not just read, but ponder the meaning.
Step 7
Draw parallels between life and a book. Take your child to the zoo, and on the way home buy a book about animals and invite your child to learn more about what he just saw. On the weekend, you are planning to go to the aquarium - keep the kid interested in this and show him a book about fish.
Step 8
Listen carefully to your child if he wants to read to you. Pretend to be interested, do not be distracted by other things, and at the end, thank the baby for a wonderful pastime, praise him.
Step 9
Most importantly, set an example for him, read it yourself! And then the child will understand that books are really important, since their parents like them so much.
