French designer Gabrielle Boner Chanel, better known as Coco Chanel, is famous for her little black dress and incredible perfume called Chanel # 5. The legend of the creation of this fragrance says that in the distant years of the reign of the Romanov dynasty, a talented perfumer Ernest Bo came to France from Russia. And so it was fate that thanks to Dmitry Romanov, who was at that time in France, these two greatest people met. The great Mademoiselle asked the perfumer to create a fragrance that would make a woman perfect.

I must say that in the 20s of the last century, women's perfumes had a very unstable composition: they smelled very strong, but at the same time they quickly completely disappeared. Bo's idea was to mix natural and artificial ingredients, which he ultimately managed to do.

To create a unique perfume, Ernest Bo first tried to include artificial compounds in their composition - aldehydes. Mixing them with various floral scents (there are about 80 ingredients in the finished composition), he left Coco to choose the most pleasant and memorable of them. She, as the story goes, opted for bottle number "5". Some believe that it was in the creation of this fragrance that the perfumer was mistaken with the dosage, which ultimately led to a change in the overall smell. Be that as it may, Chanel liked him immensely.

As for the name, the number "five" was Coco's favorite number, besides, it was on May 5 that she had to present her new collection to Parisian fashionistas, which means that the perfume was "doomed" to success in advance.

Over time, the composition of the perfume practically did not change, however, like its packaging - a rectangular bottle, on which the name of the brand is engraved in black letters. The bottle was closed with a cork fixed on it with a round seal with the symbol of the House of Chanel, consisting of two intertwining letters "C".

Chanel herself compared this new fragrance with her black dress, because, like it, the new perfume was created for a confident, strong and modern woman who knows what she wants to get out of life and always moves forward.
