The main danger of vomiting and diarrhea in a child is severe dehydration. It can lead to serious disorders in the baby's body, up to and including death. Therefore, the most important step in the treatment of diarrhea and vomiting in children is to replace fluid loss.

Instructions

Step 1

Start treatment before the doctor arrives. To restore the deficiency of fluid in the child's body, use special pharmaceutical solutions, such as "Regidron". Specify the schemes and doses of the drug in the attached instructions. If it is not possible to purchase a finished drug, make it yourself. To do this, dissolve one teaspoon of salt and five to six tablespoons of sugar in one liter of warm boiled water. Store the solution prepared in this way for no more than 24 hours. Do not give your child solutions that do not contain enough salts, such as tea, fruit juice, milk, or chicken broth. They can increase dehydration.

Step 2

If a nursing baby develops symptoms, breastfeed or formula feed more often than usual. In addition, give him 100-120 ml of water-salt solution, pharmacy or self-made, after each attack of diarrhea or vomiting. If your baby does not know how to drink from a bottle, water him in small portions from a teaspoon or using a syringe without a needle. If a new attack of vomiting occurs immediately after drinking, give him the solution again, but in smaller portions. Give your child a drink until they quench their thirst. If the infant refuses to drink or eat, or vomits every time after drinking, call an ambulance.

Step 3

If vomiting and diarrhea in an older baby lasts more than four hours, start filling the fluid deficit with a special solution at the rate of 50 ml per kilogram of the child's weight. Then, after each episode of vomiting, drink it with a solution at the rate of 2 ml per kg of weight, and after each attack of diarrhea - 10 ml per kg of weight. Drink until the child is completely thirsty. If within 4 hours he refuses to eat and drink, or after each portion of liquid drunk, a new attack of vomiting occurs - call a doctor.
