As they grow older, the child gradually masters a wide variety of skills. The task of parents (and then of educators) is to help the child successfully master new actions for him. Using the example of teaching a baby to use a potty (and this is one of the basic skills of early childhood), it is convenient to note the role of a parent at the main stages of skills formation in general.

Instructions

Step 1

Every child is different. In all matters of child development, it is better to focus not on average figures, but on the pace inherent in your baby. This also applies to mastering the pot. As a rule, the older the child, the faster the potty habituation process goes.

Step 2

Prepare the conditions for mastering the desired skill. In our case, buy a suitable pot. At the same time, take into account the wishes of the baby - it is important that the pot is liked by its little owner. The pot should be comfortable and stable, then the child can feel confident sitting on it. After purchasing a pot, place it in the room where your baby usually plays. As soon as the baby has mastered the novelty, you can start teaching him how to use the pot for its intended purpose.

Step 3

Be sure to show when and how to use the pot. Of course, you will have to show it more than once. It is great if the child sees, using the example of older children, what exactly is required of him.

Step 4

Seize the right moment. Observe the child, and you will notice that before relieving himself, he behaves in a certain way (calms down, goes to a secluded corner, groans). At this point, bring him a pot. Additionally, invite your baby to use the potty immediately after sleep and after eating.

Step 5

Be prepared for things that won't work right away. Be patient. Even with a fairly successful baby getting used to the potty, "accidents" will happen at first. When you find a puddle, calmly remind your child that he now has a pot.

Step 6

Be sure to encourage your child if he succeeds. Praise and lovingly hug your baby to keep him / her happy with the skill. But it is not worth scolding in case of failure or forcing the baby to do anything. Do not force to sit on the pot by force, otherwise the crumbs will form a negative attitude towards it, and further training will become possible only after a while.

Step 7

Keep in mind that during periods of age crisis, the child strives for greater independence. Many kids refuse to fulfill the requests of adults, even if yesterday they were happy to respond to them. The child may suddenly stop sitting on the potty, even if he has already been accustomed to it. It is necessary to wait out the outburst of protest; over time, everything will fall into place.
