Already in the first year of life, new dishes gradually appear in the infant's diet. And the first are vegetable and fruit purees, which begin to give from 4, 5-5 months. Thanks to fiber, the baby receives various vitamins, and most importantly - mineral salts, in which he begins to experience a deficiency already from the second half of the year. The easiest to prepare is mashed potatoes. It is both tasty and healthy, because this vegetable is rich in potassium and vitamin C.

Step 1
Before preparing mashed potatoes for your child, teach him to eat 3 vegetables: potatoes, carrots and cabbage. This will help avoid possible digestive problems, as potatoes are rich in starch and can cause bloating and colic.

Before cooking, cut one tuber into several pieces and soak in cold water for 2-3 hours. This will rid the potatoes of possible nitrates and excess starch and allow the vegetable broth to be used for further cooking.

Wash the soaked potatoes again with cold water and immerse them in 200 ml of boiling water. Cook over low heat until completely cooked - a state of friability. When finished, remove it from the broth and grind it in any available way: with a blender, fork, plastic sieve.
Step 5
To make the puree well-rubbed, add a little vegetable broth to it, mix, put on cheesecloth folded in several layers and, twisting a bag out of it, squeeze out. This method is best used at the very beginning of the introduction of complementary foods, when the baby needs liquid food without a single lump.

Pour the remaining vegetable broth into the strained puree. If not enough for a liquid consistency, add expressed breast milk or formula (diluted cow's milk can be used in the future). Add 1 tsp to improve the taste and nutritional value of the dish. diluted saline solution and 1 drop of unrefined vegetable or butter. They are a source of vitamin D and E.

A portion of mashed potatoes for a baby is 200 g. However, for the first time, you can cook half as much, since a new dish for a baby will be unusual and he will not eat much.
