Doctors say that breastfed babies do not need to be supplemented with water until complementary foods are introduced. But artificial children need water from the first days of their lives. Water must be included in the diet during illness and taking medications, in case of poisoning, physiological jaundice of newborns, and just in hot weather.
Instructions
Step 1
It is not easy to give your child water if he is used to the sweet taste of milk or formula. Despite this, do not teach your baby to use sweetened water - the kidneys need pure natural water. Sweet water, tea, juice are perceived and absorbed by the body not as a drink, but as food.
Step 2
Use special baby water to supplement babies. Thoroughly purified water from an artesian well is absolutely safe and does not require boiling. Sometimes baby water is enriched with vitamins and microelements.
Step 3
Monitor the water temperature carefully. Too hot or cold water can scare the baby away and he will not take it for a long time. Therefore, the most ideal temperature is room temperature.
Step 4
Give your baby water from a spoon or a small cup if he refuses to drink water from a bottle. There is also a special bottle with a built-in spoon for the little ones.
Step 5
If a newborn needs water due to illness to remove drug residues, give it from a sterile rubber bulb or syringe without a needle. Place the tip of the syringe behind the baby's cheek and gently suck the water with a slight pressure to prevent the baby from choking.
Step 6
For older children, place a bottle or sippy cup of water in a prominent place, perhaps this will interest the baby. "Water" his toys and drink water yourself - children love to copy the behavior of their parents.
Step 7
Offer your child water on a walk from a special small bottle with a cap. Give water after outdoor play and other activities.
Step 8
Monitor your breast milk well. Stay hydrated!
