Diathesis is not included in the official list of contraindications for vaccination. But it is considered a temporary and relative contraindication. This means that vaccinations for a child suffering from diathesis can be done, but they should be done outside the exacerbation stage.
The need to vaccinate children with allergies
The most common cause of diathesis is allergies. The baby's immunity is weakened. That is why children with allergies are more susceptible to infectious diseases and are more difficult to tolerate. Their infections often go away with complications. Therefore, such children need vaccination more than healthy ones. Refusal to vaccinate leads to the fact that they are defenseless against infections.
Parents are concerned that the vaccine may exacerbate a child's allergies. But for the vaccination of such babies, special techniques have been developed. Their use makes it possible to vaccinate even children who have more severe allergic diseases. At the same time, the adverse consequences for them are minimized.
When to vaccinate
The main part of pediatricians recommends vaccinating children suffering from diathesis only during the attenuation of the allergic process. The skin should be free of itchy rashes and other skin manifestations.
Any vaccination is designed for a healthy child. The introduction of the vaccine is a burden on the immune system. And if the baby has a rash or other manifestations of diathesis, then the additional load can lead to an even greater exacerbation.
Therefore, only after the treatment of diathesis with appropriate drugs, after waiting for the attenuation of its signs, they are vaccinated. It is usually prescribed one month after the exacerbation disappears.
Preparation for vaccination
The child must be carefully prepared for the vaccination. The pediatrician observing such a baby should refer him to an allergist for consultation. If necessary, the child undergoes a comprehensive examination and selects drugs for medicinal protection.
Before vaccination, the baby is prescribed all the necessary tests and, based on their results, the optimal time for vaccination is selected. For their part, parents should carefully monitor the nutrition of the child. Do not introduce any new products so as not to provoke allergic reactions. Warn your doctor if there have been new exacerbations of diathesis. He will definitely make changes to the vaccination schedule.
Of course, there is still a risk of complications after vaccination in children with a tendency to diathesis. But it is necessary to vaccinate, since such complications are rare, and modern vaccination methods make it possible to prevent or significantly reduce them. Remember that curing a disease is always more difficult than preventing it.
