Not all families are destined to live separately. Sometimes the wife or husband has to share the home with the spouse's parent.
If you decide to live with your mother-in-law, you become a family member. Clarify how you feel about her, whether you respect her, both as an individual and as a person. Ask yourself if you are willing to consider your husband's mother as a member of your family. Then define the boundaries, they are different for each person. Sharing a home with another person who belongs to a different generation and whose personality is completely different is a major test of patience and diplomacy. Therefore, accept the fact that you and your mother-in-law are completely different personalities. Do not rely on fate, demand precise definition of boundaries, expectations and potential problems. Talk to each other about how you see your living together. Do not think that everything will somehow arise by itself.
In addition, it should be remembered that your marital status, unfortunately, is slightly lower than that of your mother-in-law, for some reason: she is the mother of your husband, the older woman and the mistress of the house in which you came to live. So try to build a good relationship with her, and don't be afraid to take the first step towards a better relationship.
Before moving into a new home, discuss financial issues with your husband. You must have an absolutely clear idea of how the family manages finances, who pays for what, what financial costs will be expected from you. Differences in age, tastes, and needs are likely to preclude having a shared budget, so insist on strictly segregated cash registers.
