By school, the child should not only be able to read, but also know the composition of the number. What is the composition of a number? Simply put, these are several small numbers that can be divided into a large number. For example, the number 3 consists of the numbers 1 and 2. Teaching the child the composition of the number is quite simple, but if the child is not yet 5 years old, it is better to do it in a playful way.

It is necessary

  • - cards with numbers and images of objects;
  • - items: sticks, nuts, candies, etc.

Instructions

Step 1

First, teach your child numbers up to 10. Prepare cards with numbers and pictures of any objects. For example, 5 butterflies will flutter next to the number 5. Show your child the cards, study a number every week. Let the child find this number at home or on the street: three circles, two cars, etc.

Step 2

When the baby has a good understanding of the numbers up to 10, proceed with addition and subtraction. During the day, ask your child questions: two white balls and one blue - how much is there? There were four cubes, if you take one, how many will remain? Do not be intrusive, let the child perceive it as a game. If the child is not interested or difficult, postpone learning for now, it is quite possible that it is too early for him to solve such problems. Resume trying from time to time, look for something that interests him. He may not want to count the cubes, but he will happily count the sparrows on the tree or the biscuits.

Step 3

When your baby has mastered addition and subtraction, move on to the next step. Offer to split three sticks into two piles. He will quickly understand that this can be done only in two ways 2 + 1 or 1 + 2. This is the composition of number 3. Also, in a relaxed manner, ask your child questions about the composition of the numbers. For example, how can you split 5 nuts between two squirrels or four candies between two guys? As a rule, children very quickly learn to solve such problems using the example of sweets.

Step 4

At school, the child will need not only quantitative concepts of numbers (for example, 5 objects), but also ordinal ones (for example, the fifth in a row). Therefore, when he has mastered all of the above skills, teach him to count abstract numbers. Now give him examples with numbers, not apples and cubes. One lesson should not last longer than 15 minutes, the child simply will not be able to concentrate well. To stir up interest in learning, arrange a small competition: give your child a candy or an apple for three correct answers. It is possible that things will go faster.
