Until the age of about four months, the baby cannot independently turn onto its side or tummy. However, in a dream, he can get entangled in the blanket with his arms and legs, throw off the blanket or pull it over his head. This leads to the baby waking up and crying. A sleeping bag for a baby of the first year of life is a bag that resembles a long dress with fasteners on the shoulders and a zipper in the front or on the side. Sewing such a sleeping bag with your own hands will not be difficult.

It is necessary

  • - cotton fabric for the base - about 90-100 cm (with a fabric width of at least 110 cm),
  • - fabric for lining - about 90-100 cm (with a width of at least 110 cm),
  • - synthetic winterizer - about 90-100 cm (with a width of at least 110 cm),
  • - bias tape for processing the neckline - about 100 cm,
  • - zipper 90 cm long,
  • - 2 buttons.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a cotton fabric for sewing a bag, from which bedding is usually made. Such material has a very high density and a wide range of colors. For the lining, you can use a fabric of a contrasting color or light colors (if the main fabric has a printed pattern). Certified hypoallergenic polyester (sintepon) is well suited as insulation.

Step 2

Pin the details of the pattern of the two halves of the shelf (front of the future product) and the back made from paper to the main fabric and cut them out, leaving 1-1.5 cm of seam allowance. Similarly, cut out the main parts of the lining and insulation.

Step 3

Hand-sew the back and shelves to secure the insulation.

Step 4

Sew with free stitching on all the details on the basting with rhombuses or squares so that the insulation does not "get lost" during washing and sleeping.

Step 5

Fold the back and front with padded main fabric and sew along the outer edge.

Step 6

Sew the zipper to the vertical edges of the shelf halves. Fold over the top with right sides and sew from left armhole line to right armhole. The corners of the bottom edge can be rounded.

Step 7

Sew the lining from armhole to armhole, leaving open sides for zippers on the shelves. Treat all sections with a dense zigzag.

Step 8

Turn out the top of the sleeping bag and insert the lining into it, sew the parts together along the neckline and armholes.

Step 9

Sew the lining to the zipper.

Step 10

Decorate the necklines, armholes and straps with a bias tape.

Step 11

Make loops for fasteners on the front shoulder straps, and sew buttons on the same straps from the back.
