Find out at the hospital in advance what you need to take for the child. Most maternity hospitals use their own sterile diapers and undershirts and do not allow anything extra. Parents are asked to bring only diapers. Don't take a lot of them at once. From baby care products, you will need baby soap without any additives and a diaper cream. You can also take an electronic thermometer, it is more convenient than ordinary ones, which are given in maternity hospitals, because significantly speeds up the temperature measurement process. Some maternity hospitals may also require sterile bandages and baby care wipes. Take a small napkin, the size of a man's handkerchief, it will be convenient to wipe the baby with it after spitting up.
If the maternity hospital is private and has different procedures than public maternity hospitals, you may be allowed to bring your own clothes for the newborn. What you will dress your baby in is completely up to you. Usually two undershirts are used: thin and thicker, a cap or scarf, a diaper, then a thin and thick (flannel) diaper. Some parents immediately put on a baby jumpsuit over a vest and a diaper.
For discharge from the hospital, you need to prepare everything of your own. It is much more convenient to put on a diaper for a child, rather than a homemade gauze diaper. Consider the weather conditions when choosing clothes for a newborn: he should not freeze, but he also does not need to overheat. If it's cold outside, be sure to wrap your child in a baby blanket, thin or thick, depending on the weather. If you decide to do without a blanket, then put on a still warm blouse and pants over your jumpsuit (warm or light), woolen socks are also possible, do not forget about a hat or cap. Place the child in an envelope.
