There are a lot of baby cereals in stores and pharmacies. However, many mothers choose to feed their babies with food that they have prepared themselves. This cereal has a lot of useful properties and there are practically no ones that could harm the fragile body of a small child.

It is necessary

  • - buckwheat or flour;
  • - water;
  • - blender or coffee grinder;
  • - volumetric dishes;
  • - a small saucepan, metal mug or ladle.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose your cereal. It is better if it is of the highest grade and light enough, because dark can turn out to be bitter. Go through the buckwheat, remove debris and husks. The groats must be thoroughly rinsed and dried no less thoroughly.

Step 2

Porridge for a small child must be cooked from ground cereal. For this, it is more convenient to use a blender. You can, of course, be content with a coffee grinder. Of course, provided that it is clean and does not smell of coffee or spices. It is preferable to purchase a separate grinder for cereals. The aroma of coffee lasts a very long time, it is pleasant for an adult, but a child may not like it. Grind buckwheat until it becomes a cross between semolina and flour - smaller than the first, larger than the second. Homemade buckwheat flour is perfectly stored in glass or porcelain dishes, so nothing bad will happen if you suddenly have more of it than you planned.

Step 3

For a baby, 1 teaspoon of ground buckwheat is enough. In order to cook a rather liquid 5% porridge, this amount of cereal will require 100 ml of water. If you do not have measuring utensils, use the tools at hand - a 100 gram glass or a 200 g glass.

Step 4

Pour the ground buckwheat into a small enamel or steel container. Simmer over low heat. Remember to stir constantly. The whole process takes 15-20 minutes. At the end, you can add a drop of breast milk or a formula familiar to the baby if the baby is bottle-fed. According to the same recipe, you can cook a thicker 10% buckwheat porridge. It is enough to take twice as much buckwheat for the same amount of water, that is, 2 teaspoons. Salt and spices cannot be added to porridge for babies.

Step 5

From about six months, you can give your child buckwheat cooked in cow's milk. Milk should not be fatty. Better to choose something that is specifically designed for young children. In any case, it must be diluted with water in equal parts. This porridge is cooked in the same way as for complementary foods. The consistency depends on how much your baby is already used to thick enough food.

Step 6

For a child from 9 months, buckwheat can be slightly sweetened. Of course, if there is no allergy. Instead of sugar, you can use fructose or immediately cook porridge in sweet milk or cream. Usually babies like sweet food, but there are exceptions, so don't be surprised if your child suddenly chooses sugar-free buckwheat.

Step 7

Of course, a baby who is allergic to sugar should not be given this product. But this does not mean at all that he will eat unsweetened porridge all the time. You can get out of the situation with the help of other products that not only are allowed for your baby, but also like him. This can be fruit purees. Their assortment is large enough, and you can always choose one that the child will eat with pleasure and without unpleasant consequences.
