Family gender information is important for the self-awareness of any person. Our ancestors could have been simple people of their time, but each of them is irreplaceable for their descendants. The best way to study the history of kind is with the help of the family tree. Compiling it is a great way not only to get the information you need, but also to organize it in accordance with the chosen order. Typically, a family tree is hierarchical. Depending on the selected scheme, the tree is drawn in one direction. For example, in an ascending line, starting from the youngest child.

It is necessary

  • - A4 sheet;
  • - pencil.

Instructions

Step 1

First, collect all the information about your ancestors. It is not difficult to obtain information about grandparents; usually, these data are known. But then the data will have to be obtained from different sources. Find out if your family keeps documents of great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers, possibly award documents, certificates. In the old-old album, you can find photos not only of great-grandmothers, but also of all their children. Usually such photographs were signed with names.

Step 2

Ask the oldest members of your family about any ancestors they know. Write down not only the names, but also the dates of birth and death of relatives. It is desirable to obtain data on the lateral branches of your kind - uncles, aunts, great-uncles and grandparents. All this information will be necessary for you to compile a family tree. If your family has lived in any area for many decades, you can find out about your ancestors in the city's archives.

Step 3

After gathering enough information, start drawing the family tree. It is best to start with the last known descendant of your family - you and your brothers and sisters, or already with your children.

Step 4

Take an A4 landscape sheet of paper. Count the number of generations you can get information about. Lay the sheet vertically and divide it with a light pencil dotted line into the given number of parts. The initial sketch of the tree is best done with a pencil.

Step 5

At the top or bottom of the sheet (as you like), draw rectangles according to the number of people in the last knee of your family. In each of the boxes, write the person's name and year of birth. On the next part of the sheet, draw rectangles for your parents and siblings on your mom's and dad's sides.

Step 6

From the youngest descendants of the same parents, draw branches and connect them into one solid line. Bring the branch to the parent's rectangle at the eldest knee. This will mark the first relationship.

Step 7

In the same way, continue the family tree in the given direction, drawing the knee of grandparents, great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers from the side of each parent. It is better to draw the rectangles of the sisters and brothers of your direct ancestors much smaller in size so that your origin is clearly visible.

Step 8

In addition to displaying your direct lineage in the family on the tree, fill in the information of the side branches of the tree. Draw branches from the corresponding rectangles indicating the descendants of the brothers and sisters of your grandfathers, grandmothers, etc.

Step 9

For deceased relatives, in addition to the name and date of birth, indicate the date of death of the person. It is also advisable to write in significant events that happened to this relative, for example, "Hero of the Great Patriotic War" or "Disposed of by the authorities and arrested, the date of death is unknown." To relatives of the times of tsarist Russia, if possible, indicate their class (noblemen, merchants, bourgeoisie, peasants).

Step 10

Use correct adjectives when writing relationship. So the record "great uncle" defines the relationship with a person from the second tribe. Remember to include adopted children and secondary marriages of your ancestors in the tree. The more detailed your tree is, the more meaning it will have for you in the future. After all, it is the strength of our kind that sustains us in life.
