But this does not mean that heraldry has completely disappeared from our lives. Family coat of arms - an emblem with certain symbolic figures can be made by yourself. In the most interesting work on it, you will have to remember your pedigree, the merits of your ancestors and the history of the spirit of the whole family.

Instructions

Step 1

The main and invariable part of the coat of arms is the shield. Choose the most appropriate shield shape for your family crest. The complexity of its shape depends on your preferences and the general plan of the future logo. On the simplest triangular shield, it will be possible to fit only the necessary elements, while a more intricate configuration will make it possible to represent all heraldic symbols on it. The most common is the French shield shape, which resembles a rectangle. Draw a two-handed sword in the middle of the shield, the one with which your ancestors may have fought.

Step 2

Place the helmet over the shield. The helmet is chosen depending on the family title or the title of the owner of the coat of arms. The golden helmet can be put on the coat of arms by representatives of the most ancient noble families and lateral branches of the reigning clans. A lesser noble family is entitled to a silver helmet.

Step 3

A crest must be present above the helmet. The helmet top can be:

- horns;

- wings;

- natural figures (human or animal);

- feathers and flags;

- panel boards;

- artificial figures;

- hats.

The crest on the coat of arms should be turned in the same direction as the helmet. When choosing it, take into account the general composition, as a rule, the crest is an auxiliary element of the coat of arms and is designed to emphasize the general symbolic line. Opt for the pommel of the same color as the shield or with the same predominant color.

Step 4

In the family coats of arms of the royal persons, a mantle was an obligatory attribute of the coat of arms. But this symbol could also be used by families that are simpler in origin, for special services to the fatherland. The mantle covers the entire shield and symbolizes the protection of the wearer and his armor. Decorate the velvet robe with fur, such as ermine, as well as gold bands. The robe should resemble a tent in its shape.

Step 5

Place figures - supporters on both sides of the shield. Usually this role is played by heraldic animals (lions, griffins, eagles, unicorns), but angels or warriors can be depicted supporting the shield. In exceptional cases, two different figures are used on either side of the shield.

Step 6

At the bottom of the shield, place the base - a platform on which both the shield itself and the shield holders will stand, and the entire coat of arms will be located as a whole. It can be a marble pedestal or a green hill, or an ice floe, or a sea island, etc.

Step 7

Instead of a base, you can include a motto ribbon in the coat of arms. The family must have a motto and must come up with it, even before drawing up the coat of arms. It is the coat of arms that should support the leitmotif of the motto and reflect it in heraldic symbols. Will it be "Loyalty and Honor!" or "With God forever!" - depict the motto on the ribbon and place it instead of or together with the base at the bottom of the coat of arms and on the sides. The colors of the letters and the ribbon must match the main colors of the coat of arms.
