Many modern parents often take their children in a car. At the same time, most know that it is necessary to ensure their safety in the event of sudden braking or an accident. But there are subtleties that parents need to know about before putting a child in a car. The rules also contain clear instructions on how to transport children of different ages in a car.

Instructions

Step 1

All people in the car must be wearing seat belts, children too. So it is spelled out according to traffic rules. Whether it will be a car seat belt or an internal seat belt depends on the weight and height of the child.

Step 2

Contrary to popular belief, according to the modern version of the Road Traffic Regulations (2014), children can be transported anywhere in the car. But it is always worth remembering that it is safest to sit behind the driver. Instinctively, in the event of any accident, the driver always twists the steering wheel so as to deflect the impact away from him. The person in the front seat next to the driver in this case can be hurt more than anyone else in the car.

Step 3

If the child has reached 12 years of age or has grown taller than 150 cm, you can seat him in the front, wearing a regular belt. With this growth, the belt runs exactly over the shoulder of the child and, if necessary, will work as intended by the creators of the car.

Step 4

If you are less than 150 cm tall and / or less than 12 years old, you can put your child next to the driver. But it is extremely important to fasten it in a car seat that is suitable for the weight. The rules state that only a child restraint device must be used in the front seat. A booster or pillow cannot be used on the front seat.

Step 5

It is easier to transport a child in the back seat, there are noticeably fewer traffic restrictions. You can put it in both the car seat and the booster. Usually, the latter can be used when a child weighs 18-20 kg, usually this corresponds to the age of 5-6 years. It should be remembered that any booster does not protect at all in the event of a side impact. Therefore, to keep your child safer, use the car seat for as long as possible.

Step 6

The model of the car seat must be suitable for the child's height. To determine if it has grown out of its own, it is enough to look so that the child's head is not more than one third higher than the back of the car seat. When the seat has internal straps, they should start above the child's shoulders.

Step 7

Under no circumstances should a child be transported in a car seat without fastening the inner belts. The car seat itself must be firmly fixed with the vehicle belts according to the instructions.

Step 8

If there are no internal belts (in models of car seats for already grown children), then it is necessary to fix the child with a regular belt, passing it through the guides in the car seat. Most often, these guides are highlighted with a bright contrasting color.

Step 9

The greatest precautions must be taken when transporting infants. Often young parents prefer to carry the baby in their arms. This is absolutely impossible to do. A kid in a car must be in a car seat.

Step 10

For a very young child, the safest position when driving in a car is with his back forward. However, the front airbags are dangerous for the baby. Therefore, if you put the car seat against the direction of travel next to the driver, be sure to turn them off.
