Such results were made by a group of researchers from Mass General Hospital for Children and the Harvard School of Health, who observed 1,800 children in the age group from 6 months to 8 years.

As it turned out, those children who had a TV in their children's rooms slept significantly less than those children who did not have a TV. This is one of the first studies to examine the effect of television on long-term sleep in children. Its findings support the results of similar, less in-depth studies that have shown the direct effect of television on children's sleep.

The problem isn't even that they watch TV to stay awake. The fact is that the timely switching off of the TV does not contribute to the rapid falling asleep of children. This is due to the overexcitement and emotionality that causes watching movies, cartoons or TV shows. This applies not only to children, but also to adults. Therefore, American scientists recommend refraining from watching TV before bedtime.
