By the end of the first year of his life, the baby, who begins to move actively and grow quickly, no longer has enough mother's milk. A growing organism requires more variety. At 10-11 months, it's time to introduce your baby to new products that will provide all the most useful and necessary for his full development.
To quit or to continue?
Towards a year, most mothers decide to end the "epic" with breastfeeding. This is due to the fact that the mother's milk can no longer saturate the baby as before. "Feeding" in this period passes into a different status. This is no longer feeding, but simply psychological relief for mom and baby, a way to be alone, to relax. The baby mainly lays on the chest by inertia, and not because he wants to eat.
Therefore, the mother needs to clearly determine whether she will continue to breastfeed further or will transfer the child completely to adult food.
Introducing new products and dishes
When transferring a child to a new course in nutrition, you need to be very careful and consistent. The menu should be expanded gradually. Each product must be “tested” by the baby's stomach. If the new food does not cause any allergic reactions, you can safely introduce something new.
Most kids at 10-11 months are already familiar with juices, compotes and baby puree from jars. But development requires fiber, proteins, and carbohydrates. Therefore, the child's menu should be as varied as possible. Children's meals differ from adults in the way they are prepared. Food should be tender, not firm, fresh, clean.
Meat
The main dish that must be introduced into the child's diet is meat. This product is rich in all vitamins and minerals that help the intestines to develop. Its fibrous structure helps to regulate the child's stool, saturates the body with iron.
Meat dishes should be lean. No fat, lard: an imperfect small stomach can react badly to excess cholesterol.
In addition to soup, you can make steamed patties or meatballs. Cooking is quick and easy. A little bread and milk are added to the minced meat. From this it becomes very soft, and the child can easily chew small pieces. Minced meat can be made not only from veal, but also from turkey, chicken and fish.
Do not grind or beat all the food. At 10-11 months, a child often has up to eight teeth. Therefore, he must learn to use them: chew food, develop his jaw.
Milk products
The basis of the diet is dairy products. Kefir, fermented baked milk, milk, cottage cheese should be consumed daily. You can make soft curd yourself. Homemade cottage cheese is made from sour cream and milk. The ingredients are mixed, insisted in a warm place (for example, on a battery) for 5-6 hours, and then boiled in a water bath. The resulting mass is decanted. The cottage cheese turns out to be amazingly tender. By the way, you can add a little grated fruit or just sugar. And from the purchased cottage cheese, you can make a curd casserole with the addition of sweetish dried fruits. But they should also be finely chopped or rolled in a meat grinder.
An integral part of the baby's diet is milk porridge (for allergies, you can cook porridge in water). The instant cereals are replaced by "real" cereals. If the baby is fed up with the taste of porridge, you can offer him noodles soup for breakfast, cooked, also in milk.
Milk as a product can also be given, but it must be boiled. There is an opinion that fresh cow's milk is undesirable for a child. A child's stomach may not be able to cope with such a fatty product.
Fruits and vegetables
Be sure to include fresh vegetables and fruits in the children's diet. Vegetables can be used to make stews and other vitamin dishes. For example, grate a carrot and season with sour cream and sugar.
Fruit mixes are especially loved by children. Pieces of hard fruit can be grated or chopped in a blender. If the fruit is flavored with homemade yogurt, you get an unrealistically tasty dish that the baby will definitely eat.
Sample menu for a child at 10-11 months
The first feeding is 7-8 hours. Cottage cheese, juice or compote (this feeding can be combined with breast milk).
The second feeding is 10 hours. Milk porridge or noodle soup, tea.
The third feeding is 14 hours. Vegetables with meat, bread, juice.
The fourth feeding is 18 hours. Omelet, fruit salad, compote.
Fifth feeding - 22 hours. Kissel with baby cookies.
Closer to the year, a lot of different products are present in the child's diet. A great variety of delicious and healthy dishes can be prepared from them. It's time to show your imagination.
