When a tiny baby babbles incoherently, this leads his parents to emotion and delight. But it is quite another matter if the child has already reached 2 years of age, walks confidently, plays, but has not yet begun to speak. It is then that babbling does not touch, but causes anxiety: maybe the child has some kind of health problems, developmental delays.
What should parents do if the child does not speak?
If you want your child to speak, talk to him more often! In most cases, parents' fears are unfounded. Nevertheless, it is not worth waiting passively, hoping that he himself will speak when he wants to. If parents want their child to speak up sooner, they should reasonably stimulate him.
Try to talk to your baby in all situations. Suppose a child is being dressed for a walk. Describe in detail every detail of his clothing. For example: “Now let's put on a sweater. It is warm, made of wool, and a kitten is embroidered on it. " Or play with the baby. Name each toy, give it characteristics: "Here are blocks of wood, red, green, yellow", or: "This is a truck-car with a large body."
It is very important not to adapt to baby talk, not to distort the sound of words. Pronounce them clearly and distinctly, because in this way the child learns the correct speech.
Turn every outing into a lesson. Show your baby the world around you, draw his attention to large and small objects, animate and inanimate, and most importantly, give them a detailed description. A bird sits on a branch. Tell the child what color her plumage is, clarify that she is small. If you went to the playground, draw his attention to the ladders, swings, tell us what material they are made of, what colors they are painted in, etc.
Try to include as many adjectives and verbs in your description as possible.
When reading books to your kid, tell them about the heroes, give them at least a brief description. For example: “Doctor Aibolit is very kind and caring. Barmaley is evil, bad. " Then gently invite the child to answer the question: "Doctor Aibolit - is he good or evil?"
Most importantly, try to make the child want to communicate with you, keeping up the conversation. Don't be annoyed if he doesn't immediately respond to your efforts.
When a child must be shown to specialists
If the baby, despite all the efforts of the parents, stubbornly does not start to speak normally, he should be taken to a pediatric neurologist and a speech therapist. Consultation of such specialists is especially necessary if the age of the baby is approaching 3 years, and he still does not speak.
There are many techniques for developing speech. It is the specialist who can help you find the best one. In some cases, it does not hurt to visit a psychologist, perhaps the baby simply "closed".
