Talk to your baby the entire time he is awake. In the first months, communication will not take very long, but it should be. Comment on all your actions. When communicating with a baby (and sometimes with an older child), adults almost always begin to speak more slowly and clearly than usual. It will be easier for him to grasp the way of extracting this or that sound if an adult shows it to him. In this case, you should not deliberately lisp or lisp. From the very beginning, the kid must hear the correct speech, then he himself will strive to speak correctly.

As soon as you understand that the child is listening to you meaningfully and is already consciously making some movements with his hands, teach him sign language. He still cannot say what he wants, but he will be able to show that he needs a toy or a bottle of water. After naming an object, point at it with your finger or hand. Think of gestures that your baby can use to show that he is hungry, that he needs to change his diaper, or that he wants to sleep. The game "Magpie" will do quite well so that the kid can "tell" you that he is not averse to having a snack. Putting your palms together and pressed to your cheek will make it pretty clear that it's time to sleep.

Sign language will not only facilitate the understanding that a toddler desperately needs. The connection between fine motor skills of hands and speech has long been noticed. The more a child can do with his hands, the sooner he will learn to speak. You can use this way of expressing your thoughts for a long time and even after the need to achieve understanding in this way disappears. Some parents strive to come up with a "childish" language, denoting objects in simplified words. This is not worth doing. But one should not hinder a small child who comes up with his own words either. Not all children do this. If your baby uses such words in speech, you will have to remember them, but you hardly need to repeat them. However, many children immediately try to name the object with the correct "adult" word, although this does not always work out.
