The process of treatment for a child is a very uninteresting, sad, and sometimes painful and tasteless occupation. If an adult is able to come to terms with this, then the baby will not be able to realize and evaluate the need for the use of drugs.
The thought that the health of their beloved offspring is at stake makes mothers to force the medicine into the baby. As a result, the fear of mother's cry and irritation joins the simply tasteless pill. It is worth remembering here that food eaten with negative emotions is less digestible. The same rule applies to drugs.
The Fable of the Evil Virus
An effective, but time-consuming way of persuading a baby will be a large-scale action based on the fable about an evil virus. Perhaps you should start a whole battle, at the end of which the child will have to swallow a tasteless pill to get the final victory. The main condition for such a game is not to be limited to a single task (swallowing the medicine). Taking a pill or syrup should be one of several suggested tasks.
Good or bad doctor
If you have often told your child that you will punish him with a tasteless pill or injection, then refusal to take them may be the result of previously instigated fears. When a child does not want to take the necessary medication, many mothers use “heavy artillery” - the phrase: “If you don’t drink the medicine, an evil doctor will come and hurt you”. It is not hard to guess that the next tantrum may begin when going to the hospital or with the arrival of the doctor. In the eyes of a kid, doctors are not too kind representatives of their profession, and you make monsters out of them - an extreme degree of punishment. Refuse in this case from intimidation and shouting.
Treating mom, treating bear
Do not start medication by treating the child himself. "Treat" your favorite toy and wait for it to recover. It will be much easier for a child to endure various manipulations with medications if he knows that his mother is experiencing the same sensations. Offer the baby to give you “medicine” to drink, you can even grimace a little, but be sure to specify: “Bitter, but necessary!”. The execution of mustard plasters can be done collectively and delivered to both mom and dad and a teddy bear.
Don't lie to your child
Many parents, trying to achieve a one-time result, deceive children by telling them that the pill is not bitter. The child is not stupid, and such a deception will only take place a few times. In the future, he will not drink the medicine, even if it actually tastes good.
The use of various masking products: jams, condensed milk, juices is allowed only if the medicine does not lose its properties by interacting with the product. In addition, do not use foods that must be included in the child's diet for this purpose. The unpleasant taste of the medicine can forever discourage a child from eating cottage cheese, milk or kefir.
