Sudden whims of a child, loss of appetite or crying while eating can be a sign of stomatitis - inflammation of the oral mucosa. This disease can develop after infections, taking antibiotics, due to a decrease in immunity. To determine it for sure, it is enough to examine the baby's mouth.

Instructions

Step 1

Stomatitis in children can take different forms: aphthous, catarrhal, or ulcerative necrotic. You can distinguish them by their characteristic features that appear on the mucous membrane of the child's mouth. But for this it must be carefully examined.

Step 2

Pull the baby's lower lip and then the upper lip and examine the mucous membrane of the cheeks and gums. Already at the beginning of the disease, white plaque, vesicles, plaques with a red rim, or even sores may appear on them. If your baby does not let her mouth open, examine him while crying.

Step 3

With catarrhal stomatitis, the inner surface of the mouth and cheeks becomes edematous, reddens, and bubbles appear. In this form, inflammation affects only the upper layer of the mucous membrane, but it already causes a lot of painful sensations and a deterioration in general well-being. The harbingers of stomatitis in a child may be increased salivation, malaise, lethargy, anxiety, fever, tearfulness, refusal of any food, including water, since any movement in the mouth causes pain.

Step 4

The aphthous form of stomatitis also begins with a deterioration in the general condition of the child: fever and malaise. But an increase in nearby lymph nodes can also join these manifestations. Aphthous stomatitis is characterized by the appearance of white plaque - plaques with a red rim. They can form on the entire surface of the mucous membrane and tongue and after a while merge with each other, forming a single white layer.

Step 5

Ulcerative necrotizing stomatitis is characterized by the appearance of ulcers on the gums, covered with a gray or yellowish coating. The disease-causing process quickly spreads to the entire inner surface of the mouth and tongue. In this stomatitis, the damage captures the deep layers of the mucous membrane, which significantly slows down the healing process, since it takes more time to recover. In addition to local manifestations, the child is worried about fever, malaise, chills, swollen lymph nodes, weight loss due to refusal to eat and water.

Step 6

If you suspect stomatitis in a child, you should immediately consult a doctor, and not use all possible folk remedies. They undoubtedly have a positive result, but it is better to use them in the acute stage in addition to drug treatment. Otherwise, you can start the course of the disease, and this will affect the general condition of the baby.
