Even if your baby is very tired during the day, it can be difficult for him to "switch to rest mode" on his own and fall asleep peacefully. On the contrary, when it comes time to go to bed, the child may become more noisy and active. To calm down, he needs the help of an adult.

Daily regime

The daily routine is important for any person, and especially for the baby. Having got used to living in a certain rhythm, the child more easily passes from wakefulness to sleep, and vice versa. A clear routine systematizes his life, putting the child to bed at the same time, parents help him develop a useful habit of falling asleep calmly.

Ritual of going to bed

Another technique that helps your child to calm down and fall asleep without problems is the repeated bedding ritual every day. Parents are mistaken who believe that performing certain actions every night takes a lot of time. Laying down the baby immediately after noisy games or interesting activities can take much longer.

Speaking of the evening ritual, I do not mean something complicated. Perhaps it will be a bathing, then a fairy tale or a lullaby for the night, or perhaps a calm conversation with an already grown-up child "heart to heart", a parental kiss for the coming sleep … In each family, parents independently determine what the evening ritual will include. It is only important that the actions are repeated every evening in a certain sequence and become familiar and pleasant for the child.

Good habits

Help the baby to calm down in the evening and some good habits that adults will help to develop. This is a calm walk in the fresh air just before bedtime, warm milk with a spoonful of honey (unless, of course, the child is allergic to this product) or herbal tea with chamomile, airing the bedroom. By the way, sleeping in a cool room is preferable to a hot and stuffy one - the sleep will be deeper and will bring a really good rest.

It is important to exclude any factors that disturb the nervous system before going to bed: noisy outdoor games, watching TV and others, which can unnecessarily excite or excite the child and prevent him from falling asleep peacefully.

Safety

A grown-up preschooler may have fears that prevent him from falling asleep. He may begin to be afraid to be alone in the dark, and there is no need to talk about a calm sleep.

Help your baby feel safe. Turn on a night light in the children's bedroom, eliminate unnecessary noise, create a calm, cozy atmosphere. Do not tell scary or too exciting fairy tales and stories at night. Perhaps it is worth staying close to the baby until he falls asleep: the presence of a loved one will help him feel confident and calm. If this is not possible, offer your child a soft toy that he can take with him to bed. Tell us how his pet will protect the baby from nightmares and attract only good, good dreams. Hugging a beloved bear, the child will feel almost as calm as with his mother.
