By the end of the first year of life, the sucking reflex in children gradually fades away. During this time, it can be weaned from the bottle and nipple. This process should be painless for the baby.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose the right time to part with these attributes. Sucking on a pacifier has a calming effect; the time when the baby is sick is not suitable for weaning from it. Be patient, not all babies have this process painlessly. Start your preparation by explaining that it is already large enough for the nipple. Show your dad, sister, or other family member to show that adults do not suck on a pacifier.

Step 2

Move the nipple out of sight. If he starts to be capricious, distract him with some kind of toy or book. Try to keep your baby busy all the time. The need for a nipple will gradually decrease, perhaps he will remember about it only before going to bed.

Step 3

Gradually move away from the "sleeping pills" influence of the nipple. Place her on the pillow next to him and explain that she, too, is tired and wants to sleep. As soon as he stops asking her before going to bed, offer to give her favorite "sedative" to another child who is still very young. Then take it away and don't show it again.

Step 4

Many children cannot part with a drinking bottle for quite a long time, sometimes up to 3 years. In order for the baby to stop drinking from the bottle, start accustoming him to the cup after 6 months. First, drink it from a teaspoon, then let him try it himself. Of course, at first, the child will spill liquid, be patient and keep learning.

Step 5

Get your baby a bright sippy cup. Play with it, "drink" from it his favorite toys. The process will be interesting to him and soon he will learn to do without a bottle. And then remove the upper part with the holes for the liquid from the sippy cup - and now your baby is drinking from the cup.

Step 6

It is better not to use the old advice of grandmothers - to smear a pacifier or a nipple from a bottle with something tasteless, for example, mustard. This can be very frustrating for the baby. The withdrawal process should be accompanied by positive emotions. And do not use as an example other children who have already given up these items. Otherwise, the child may develop an inferiority complex.
