Sometimes this happens even in the hospital, sometimes already at home. After the umbilical cord has fallen off, it is necessary to take care of the umbilical wound.

Step 1
It is desirable that the remainder of the umbilical cord fall off by itself. It is not necessary to unscrew it by force. This usually happens around 5-7 days of the baby's life. It is necessary to treat the umbilical wound twice a day: in the morning and in the evening. It's easy to do, you just need to get used to it. Remember, there are no nerve endings in the umbilical cord. The baby does not experience any pain from your manipulations on the treatment of the umbilical wound.
Step 2
First, you need to treat the wound with hydrogen peroxide: drop a small amount of peroxide on the wound or swipe it with a cotton swab dipped in peroxide. It will be more convenient for you if, after the peroxide hisses, you remove the excess residues with a dry, clean cotton swab.
Step 3
Crusts that have already fallen off after peroxide can be removed with a cotton swab. But do not rip them off yourself: remove those that are soaked and come off yourself.
Step 4
Next, you need to smear the umbilical wound with brilliant green with a cotton swab. Zelenka will speed up healing, dry the scabs. You don't need to apply any healing ointments! The wound should air dry.
Step 5
Then just fasten the diaper, slightly bending its edge. Many models of diapers for newborns provide the ability to bend the belt so that it does not rub the umbilical wound. You don't need to cover it with any bandages.
Step 6
Bathing the baby while the umbilical wound has not yet healed, it is better in boiled or filtered water. You should clearly know that there are no infections and dirt in the baby's bathing water, because the infection easily enters the baby's body through the wound. After the wound heals, you can bathe in unboiled water.
