When a child is born, parents for a long time forget that you can sleep the whole night without waking up, because the baby eats quite often, including at night.
Necessary
a bottle of water
Instructions
Step 1
In Soviet times, it was customary to feed a child by the hour from birth, and at night they had a 6-hour break - from midnight to six in the morning. If the baby wanted to eat during this period, he was simply given water. After a while, the child's body got used to this routine and there were almost no awakenings. This has its advantages: the possibility of a full night's sleep, the child's addiction to the regime; but also disadvantages: a newborn baby needs to eat much more often than an adult, because he has small portions, and long breaks can cause stomach problems, it also has a bad effect on breastfeeding - milk production may decrease.
Step 2
Nowadays, feeding at the request of the child is mainly practiced, i.e. not at certain intervals, but at his will - it may be in an hour, or maybe in 4 hours, as the baby wants. On the one hand, this is good, because the body itself knows when it needs to eat, but on the other hand, it is an eternal attachment to the child, especially if breastfeeding is impossible to go far, because the child at this moment may get hungry, and feeding him in public places is an aesthetic question. Of course, you can find a way out, express and give it from a bottle, but there are still certain inconveniences. And at night, the baby can wake up quite often, as a result of which the mother will not get enough sleep.
Step 3
Parents want to put the child into a mode as soon as possible where he will sleep the whole night without waking up. When he is very small, it is better not to do this. If you are breastfeeding, then move the crib to yours or, in extreme cases, put the baby close to you, then during his next feeding you do not need to get up, and the baby sleeps more calmly next to his mother. There are opponents of joint sleep with a child, arguing that then it is difficult to wean him from the parental bed. There is some truth in this, here you have to take into account all the pros and cons. There are children who wake up 1-2 times almost from birth and fall asleep quickly, in which case you can get up, but when the child demands to eat every hour, then a few sleepless nights will allow you to forget about all the negative aspects of sleeping with your baby.
Step 4
When exactly your baby stops eating at night, you can't say, everything is individual here. Some have been sleeping well for half a year already, and some want to have something to eat until they are 2 years old. You can not forcibly deprive a child of night feeding if he is not yet ready for this, because it can cause psychological trauma.
Step 5
But if your baby wakes up at night, takes a couple of sips and sleeps again, then the point is clearly not hunger, but rather in reassurance that mom is nearby. In this case, you can try to gradually wean your child from this habit. It is worth replacing feeding with plain water or baby tea. Perhaps at first he will be against such a replacement, but after a while he will no longer need to wake up. At the moment of awakening, you can just be with the baby next to him, stroke him, tell a story, sometimes it is quite enough for him to fall asleep again, and after a while he stopped waking up altogether.
