A woman expecting a second child already has experience of childbirth and knows roughly what awaits her. On the one hand, it gives her confidence, on the other, it causes fear. At the same time, repeated births can differ significantly from the first ones.
Instructions
Step 1
During the birth of the first child, contractions last an average of 10-12 hours. The cervix opens at a rate of about 1 cm per hour. If less than 5-7 years pass between the first and second births, the time of contractions is approximately halved and is, respectively, 5-6 hours. In the case of the birth of the first child, doctors recommend arriving at the hospital about 5 hours after the onset of contractions. In case of repeated births, you should start going to the hospital immediately after the start of regular uterine contractions. If more than 10 years pass between births, contractions will go on at about the same speed as when the first child was born.
Step 2
The perspiration period during the second birth usually goes away faster and less painful than the first time. However, the process of the birth of a baby is influenced by its weight, position in the uterus and other factors, so the birth of a second child can be more difficult.
Step 3
If during the first birth you develop tears or an episiotomy, during the second birth you may experience tissue divergence along the old sutures. For many mothers this does not happen, because scars are usually quite elastic and stretch well.
Step 4
The first birth could have occurred by caesarean section. This fact is not an absolute indication for surgery when giving birth to a second child. If your health and the condition of your baby allows it, you may be allowed to have a natural birth. Indications for a cesarean section are the transverse presentation of the baby, the failure of the suture on the uterus from the previous operation, some malformations of the baby and the mother's illness, in which attempts are contraindicated. During vaginal delivery after a cesarean section, it is important to monitor the condition of the scar from the first operation. For this, an ultrasound scan should be performed during contractions. If there is a threat of seam divergence, doctors decide to reoperation.
Step 5
A second caesarean section is often easier to tolerate than the first. The woman gets in shape faster after the operation, the mother gets milk earlier.
Step 6
Childbirth is a unique process, and it is impossible to accurately predict its course. They are influenced by many factors, in particular: the parameters of the baby, the health of the mother and child, the individual characteristics of the body. Second births can exactly repeat the first, or they can be radically different from them. You should contact the hospital in a timely manner, and professionals will help you to safely give birth to your second baby.
