It is common for a child to imitate adults, therefore, in families that use profanity, you can often hear obscene words from children. But not only the family influences the child's speech - children and adolescents often recognize obscene words in the yard, at school, in kindergarten or just on the street. How to deal with this problem depending on the age of the child?
Child's age up to 5 years
At this age, the child does not always understand what he is saying, so it is better to ignore a bad word. If you focus on the mate, the child will understand that this is a forbidden fruit, and, as you know, it is sweet. When a child realizes that swear words infuriate his parents, he begins to use them for manipulation, so you do not need to react violently, you just need to make sure that at least in the house this word does not sound from the lips of adults - the child will soon forget it.
Age from 5 to 7 years
At this age, you can act as in the first case - to ignore the swear word heard, but the problem is that the child begins to become interested in the meaning of the word. In such a situation, one should not swear and not punish the child, but explain to him that the word is very offensive and cannot be used in conversation. You can ask how the child learned the swear word in order to draw appropriate conclusions for himself.
Children 7-12 years old
During this period of growing up, the child strives to be cooler and more interesting than his friends. Using a mat is one of the ways to prove yourself, to stand out from the crowd. The age is difficult, but there is no need to arrange scandals. You can pretend that you are upset, but at the same time it is imperative to explain that intelligent and well-mannered people do not use such words. The repetition of obscene words at this age should be suppressed by punishment - deprivation of walks, TV or computer games.
Age 12-16
At this age, schoolchildren can already be called adolescents, not children, but this does not mean that they can use mate as a colloquial speech. Most often, a child uses a strong word only when, in his opinion, it is permissible - in the company of friends or classmates, and he observes certain rules at home. If mats are pronounced almost non-stop, you need to sound the alarm - perhaps the teenager in this way is trying to attract the attention of parents who are too busy with work or other matters. It is not necessary to immediately punish the teenager, as this can only exacerbate the problem and further alienate the child.
