In any case, if the child does not obey you, it means that he is not sufficiently interested in the proposed behavior. Think about how to explain to him all the advantages and benefits of what you want from him in a certain case.
No matter what happens, physical abuse is unacceptable, it can negatively affect his psyche and your future relationships. Your authority will fall, he will fear you, not respect you, trust will disappear.
