Pirantel is a drug for the treatment and prevention of helminthic invasions. Already from 6 months this drug can be taken by children. Pirantel has a wide spectrum of action and treats enterobiasis, ascariasis, non-kotorosis and ankylostomiasis. In pediatric practice, the drug is used in the form of a suspension and tablets.
Instructions
Step 1
The dosage of pyrantel depends on the age, weight of the child, the type and severity of the invasion. The medicine can be taken at any time of the day, regardless of food intake.
Step 2
For the treatment of ascariasis and enterobiasis, pyrantel is prescribed at the rate of 10-12 mg per 1 kg of the child's body weight. That is, for 10 kg of weight - 125 mg of pyrantel. Take once.
For a child 6-24 months old, give 0.5 scoops of suspension.
Children from 2 to 6 years old - a whole scoop of suspension.
Children from 6 to 12 years old can take either suspension or tablets. Give the suspension 1-2 scoops, in tablets it is 1-2 tablets of 125 mg.
Over 12 years old - 3 tablets of 125 mg or 3 scoops of suspension.
Step 3
For ankylostomiasis, give the above doses for 3 consecutive days.
Step 4
For the treatment of necatorosis, Pirantel is given to children for 2 days. The dose is calculated - 20 mg of pyrantel per 10 kg of the child's weight.
Give 1 scoop of the suspension to a child 6-24 months old.
Children from 2 to 6 years old - 2 measuring spoons of the suspension.
Children 6-12 years old give 2-4 tablets of 125 mg or in suspension - 2-4 measuring spoons.
Over 12 years old - 6 tablets of 125 mg each or 6 measuring spoons of suspension.
Step 5
To prevent re-infection, give another course of treatment after 3 weeks. Strictly follow all the rules of personal hygiene and treat all family members at the same time.
