Intestinal colic usually occurs in newborns at 4-5 weeks of age. This functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract is considered a normal reaction of the baby's body to new conditions of existence outside the mother's womb. You can relieve the suffering of the crumbs with the help of dill water.
It is necessary
- - Dill water;
- - fennel seeds;
- - boiling water;
- - gauze;
- - a container for storing water;
- - tea spoon.
Instructions
Step 1
The basis for making dill water is not dill, but fennel, a plant very similar to dill in appearance. It can be quite difficult to find this remedy, since dill water is made and sold not in every pharmacy kiosk, but only in specialized pharmacies engaged in their own production of medicines. The shelf life of dill water is limited: at room temperature it is 3 days, in the refrigerator - no more than a week. Young parents cannot always find time for regular visits to the pharmacy.
Step 2
You can make dill water at home. To do this, purchase dry fennel seeds. Pour 1 teaspoon of the crushed fruits of the plant with a glass of boiling water. Leave the solution for about an hour, until the water is lukewarm. Strain the infusion gently through cheesecloth and drain into a clean bottle or jar. The prepared water must be stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours.
Step 3
You can give dill water to a newborn no more than 3-4 times a day, 1 teaspoon. To make it easier for your baby to swallow the medicine, mix it with expressed breast milk or add it to a bottle of adapted formula. After the first doses of dill water, carefully study the baby's reaction to the new product. If a rash appears on the child's skin and the nature of the stool has changed dramatically, be sure to consult a pediatrician.
Step 4
The industrial analogue of dill water is Plantex. This modern remedy is also made on the basis of fennel fruits, and has several advantages over traditional dill water. "Plantex" is packed in sachets, the contents of which just need to be diluted with warm water, and it is ready to use. You can start taking the drug from the age of two weeks. The shelf life of this drug is quite long, so the expectant mother can purchase it for a children's first-aid kit in advance.
