Practical everyday consciousness is the most primitive level of consciousness. It includes a set of ideas, stereotypes and attitudes that are based on the everyday experience of people and dominate the social community to which they belong. Such a consciousness is characterized by errors that contribute to the preservation of prejudices and hinder the scientific knowledge of the world. However, the fixation of frequently repeated connections between people and things (folk wisdom), characteristic of public consciousness, allows one to draw correct conclusions, which is proved by the practice of everyday life.
At the level of everyday consciousness, people in one way or another are able to realize the accepted meanings of social life, without the use of methods and means of specially organized cognitive activity. Ordinary consciousness describes life phenomena at the level of simple observations and everyday ideas, which are presented to representatives of society as the necessary "rules of the game", as well as to one degree or another they are assimilated and applied by them.
What is scientific consciousness
In contrast to ordinary consciousness, the theoretical scientific is considered a higher form, since it describes the connections and patterns that exist between phenomena and objects in a demonstrative manner, and with the greatest possible accuracy.
Scientific consciousness differs from the ordinary by the rigor of the approach, as well as the reliance on the preliminary basic scientific knowledge on which it is based. Theoretical and everyday consciousness interact with each other. The first kind in relation to the second is secondary, but also changes it.
It must be borne in mind that stable stereotypes and forms of everyday consciousness in various cases are not capable of being the ultimate truth, since they are limited to the empirical level. At this level, attempts at comprehension often give rise to illusions, delusions and false expectations, both on a social and personal level. However, everyday life is impossible without ordinary consciousness.
Theoretical scientific consciousness, which, due to its specificity, cannot be massive, continues to operate only at a pragmatic and rational level, which is natural for the organization of universal human high forms of culture.
What is the value of everyday consciousness
Do not prematurely conclude that ordinary consciousness is defective. However, to some extent, it really reflects the public consciousness of the broad masses, who are at a certain - usually very low - level of cultural development.
On the other hand, if an individual has a high cultural organization, its presence usually not only does not contribute, but even hinders his feasible participation in the production of various material values at the primary level. In general, about 70% of society is often most interested in the utility, the practical application of knowledge in real life.
The everyday consciousness of a healthy society is distinguished by harmony and integrity, ensuring its vitality. Therefore, such, reflecting reality, consciousness is closer to reality than other types. Moreover, it is from the diversity of the experience of the everyday consciousness of society that religion, philosophy, ideology, arts and sciences appear as the highest forms of universal human consciousness that make up the content of culture.
