Children, regardless of age, lie. Some begin to do it earlier, others later. Parents' excitement about this knows no bounds. Some blame themselves, others take it out on children. But is this behavior acceptable? How can you punish a kid for this?

Punishment is the main mistake that almost all parents make. To begin with, you just need to sit down and calmly talk to your child. It is worth understanding the reasons for lying. According to many psychologists, the reason for children's lies lies in the adults themselves. Unfortunately, not all parents are ready to realize and accept this.

Reasons for children's lies:

  • confidence that adults will not understand;
  • the baby thus wants to attract attention to himself;
  • distrust of parents;
  • the child can lie also because he takes an example from the people around him;
  • fear of being punished;
  • fear of losing privileges (buying a new phone, tablet, and so on);
  • children lie out of the knowledge that their lies are beneficial.

In a separate group, it is worth highlighting pretense. (This is one of the most common reasons children lie.) This usually concerns the child's illness.

In this case, we again return to the above points. For example, the situation: Masha did not learn her lessons for tomorrow and lied to her parents that she was not feeling well. We can say that she did it for several reasons: if she tells the truth, then adults will not understand; then they will be punished; will be deprived of privileges.

Examples of situations involving children's lies can be cited over and over again. The main thing is not to make hasty conclusions in the heat of the moment, but to try to get into the position of the child and make him understand that everything can be solved. After all, the problem that the baby faced cannot concern only him. The problem of this nature depends on the state of affairs in the family.

Most likely, the child caught the parents of lying, but did not tell them about it. Considering this behavior is normal. You should support the child and show by your own example that telling the truth is much better than dodging and lying. Moreover, a person who is accustomed to lying ends up lying only to himself and deceiving only himself.
