In general, the baby does not need a playpen - he will crawl all over the room with much greater pleasure, look into the closets and try to climb onto the sofa. But for parents, especially young ones, the playpen is very useful - you can safely leave the child in it and leave the room for a while. You can make a playpen yourself, from any materials that are safe for the baby.

It is necessary

  • - bars 30 mm;
  • - rods;
  • - drill;
  • - hacksaw;
  • - roulette;
  • - soil;
  • - grinding attachment for a drill or grinder;
  • - paint or varnish;
  • - pendulum hinges;
  • - latch.

Instructions

Step 1

First, determine the optimal size of the arena. Try to make it as large as possible so that the child can move. It is better to increase the height of the playpen for a mobile child, but try to ensure that the baby has the opportunity to look not through the bars, at least at you.

Step 2

If possible, make the playpen from reliable and sufficiently heavy materials - a metal profile or wooden slats so that the baby cannot turn it over. A metal square or round pipe, or metal rods are perfect.

Step 3

For the base, take 30 mm blocks and cut 8 blanks: 4 of them should be equal to the length of the arena, the rest - to the width. From the same block, make vertical racks in each corner. To make the arena foldable, make each side separately, in the form of a rectangle. Thus, you will need 8 uprights.

Step 4

If you are planning to make a trellis and have already found suitable rods, mark out the horizontal rungs. Make sure that the markings on the top bar are exactly aligned with the markings on the bottom. Choose the distance between the bars of the lattice arbitrarily, but so that the head of even the smallest child does not creep into it - in any case, no more than 10 cm.

Step 5

In the marked places with a drill, drill holes to a depth of 1 cm. In order not to exceed the specified depth and drill all holes the same, attach a ruler or rail parallel to the drill to the drill, 1 cm shorter - when the hole is ready, the rail will rest against the block and will not allow drilling further …

Step 6

Sand the surface of the bars and rods, cover them with primer and varnish. The smoother the details of the arena, the safer the child will be in it. Please note that children tend to chew or suck on the top bars, so they should only be covered with absolutely safe hygienic materials.

Step 7

Assemble each wall separately. Insert all the rods into the holes of the lower crossbar, from the top simultaneously thread them into the upper one. Secure the side posts. Fasten the workpieces together with bolts or squares so that you can disassemble the homemade arena at any time.

Step 8

Take the pendulum hinges and connect the adjacent walls together in two. To connect these two blanks together, you will need double-acting pendulum loops or ordinary ones, but with wide shelves (your goal is to fold the arena like a screen, in the form of an accordion). On the other hand, set the latch so that the child cannot open it - a regular latch or hook will do.
