The IVF procedure allows artificial fertilization of an egg with a guarantee of up to 40%. Most often, a positive result is achieved if the woman is not older than 30 years. In vitro fertilization is possible in the absence of conception after ineffective treatment with endoscopy and drug therapy.
Before IVF, a married couple should undergo a thorough examination aimed at identifying the need for the procedure and the risk of possible complications. A man donates sperm for a sperm test and spermogram. The woman undergoes an examination of the pelvic organs, ultrasound and hysterosalpinography. Diagnostics may include the study of the genetic characteristics of future parents and the identification of hormone levels.
How is in vitro fertilization
There are 2 methods of IVF. In the first case, conception occurs in a test tube. The egg cell, which is in the nutrient substrate, is fertilized with a sperm suspension. In the second case, conception is performed by introducing spermatozoa using microsurgery.
Before the procedure, a woman goes through a preliminary stage, taking special hormonal preparations to simulate ovulation. Such preparation allows you to get about 10 eggs, some of which are used for fertilization.
After being removed from the woman's body, the eggs are placed in an incubator. After a few hours, the egg is fertilized. If the sperm count is insufficient, they are taken from the testicle or epididymis of the organ of the future pope. Within 2-3 days, the fertilized egg is kept in the incubator under the constant supervision of the staff.
The implantation of an egg into the uterine cavity is carried out using a catheter. Usually 3-4 eggs are implanted, increasing the chances of pregnancy. To avoid rejection, a woman should use pharmacological drugs prescribed by a doctor.
After 2 weeks, you can find out exactly how successful the in vitro fertilization was. A high concentration of human chorionic gonadotropin in a blood sample is indicative of a positive result.
