If your child is unreasonably anxious and screams violently, the first step is to rule out problems that are more serious than colic. Show it to a doctor. If all is well and there is no surgical or other pathology, then you can resort to methods of treating colic in infants.

Colic symptoms

This is anxiety for no apparent reason, a sharp paroxysmal cry for a long time, the child presses his legs to his tummy, crying appears immediately after feeding, gases do not go well (after they pass away, the child calms down for a short time), constipation.

The reasons for their occurrence

Improper attachment to the breast. Air is swallowed together with milk. If the child eats from a bottle, then it should be at an angle. So that the air accumulates near the bottom.

Overfeeding. If the baby has overeat, gas may accumulate in the stomach. You should feed more often and little by little. After feeding, hold it in a "column", the child will regurgitate air.

Nutrition for a nursing mother. There are foods that should be avoided during lactation: cabbage in any form, corn, beans, soda water, black bread, onions, tomatoes, coffee, spices, cow's milk and possibly some dairy products.

If colic is associated with these reasons, then, provided they are excluded, they will disappear in a couple of days.

Prophylaxis

Please note: a nursing mother should drink teas with fennel, lemon balm or caraway seeds. In this case, colic can be avoided altogether.

After feeding, hold the baby upright until it burps.

Before feeding, lay the baby on the tummy, the surface should be flat and firm.

Between feedings, it is good to give dill water or baby fennel teas. Also give plain water.

Treatment

Iron the warm diaper with an iron and put it on the tummy, after checking the temperature of the fabric with your hand. Alternatively, you can put this diaper on your belly, and on top of the baby's heated diaper with your belly down.

Massage the tummy: gently with light movements in a clockwise direction. Press your bare tummy towards you. Do an exercise for bending and extending the legs.

If the baby is bottle-fed, try changing the formula. Perhaps this is the root cause of colic in artificial children.

Take a warm bath and at the same time massage the tummy in a clockwise direction. In warm water, the child will relax and the colic will subside.

Before taking any medications, you should consult with your pediatrician. He can prescribe a carminative (bobotik, espumisan, etc.).

You can put a gas tube, but on condition that other methods do not help. Use this procedure only as a last resort. Lubricate the tip of the tube with sunflower oil or baby cream, insert 1, 5 cm. Wait for the gas to pass, and possibly the appearance of a chair. If you have a small rubber bulb at hand, you need to cut off a half with a bottom from it, boil the part with a tip and use it instead of a gas outlet tube according to the same principle. After this procedure, the colic stops immediately.
