Eggs contain essential amino acids and substances necessary for the body (calcium, phosphorus, iron), vitamins A, B, C, K. Children under one year old need to introduce this useful product into the diet gradually, like any other, carefully monitoring the reaction.
Egg white is a strong allergen, therefore, pediatricians recommend introducing it into the child's diet when the baby is one year old. Domestic doctors advise yolk to start giving after six months. That is why making a classic omelet for a child under one year old is unacceptable. Egg yolk is offered from six months of age. The first portion is 1/8 of the whole boiled chicken yolk. The number is gradually increased. By the age of one, a child can eat one or two whole yolks.
Trial recipe
A child who has already tasted egg yolk reacted normally to it, you can prepare a special children's omelet. For the first time, it is recommended to replace chicken eggs with quail eggs. Firstly, they contain more useful trace elements and amino acids. Secondly, they are not as allergenic as chicken ones.
For a baby omelet you will need:
- 3 quail yolks (the protein must be separated);
- 1 tablespoon of breast milk or formula.
Children of the first year of life are not recommended to introduce salt and sugar, seasonings into the diet. Fried cooking is also not allowed. 3 quail yolks can be replaced with one chicken.
Whisk all the ingredients for the first omelet with a fork or whisk for 30-40 seconds. You can cook in a microwave oven or in a “water” bath. Cooking time: 5-7 minutes.
Recommendations for the introduction of omelet in the diet
Baby omelet is suitable for the first complementary food at 8 months. It is necessary to introduce it into the diet in the same way as other foods. First, the child is offered a small serving (a teaspoon or two). If no reaction occurs during the day, you can gradually increase the portion. It is not recommended to cook a dish for breakfast or lunch every day, but you can diversify their diet once or twice a week. Children's omelet is a good alternative to the usual boiled yolk.
"Adult" omelet
A full-fledged omelet of proteins, yolks and milk can be offered to a child after the baby is 1, 5 years old. Until this age, domestic pediatricians recommend removing protein from the dish and replacing ordinary milk with special baby milk. The use of seasonings remains unacceptable, but salt can already be added during cooking.
Those who have a child for a year goes to the "common" table, it is worth remembering that excessive load on the gastrointestinal tract can further negatively affect the health of the child. Omelet, despite its benefits, remains a rather complex and difficult dish to digest.
