If, for a number of reasons, natural feeding of the baby is impossible for the mother, it is necessary to feed the baby from a bottle. Good hygiene and procedures are essential for proper feeding.
It is necessary
- - bottle;
- - nipple;
- - sterilizer or vessel with boiling water.
Instructions
Step 1
Sterilize the bottle and teat by boiling or process by placing them in a special sterilizer. This will remove and prevent the formation of bacteria, the entry of which into the infant's gastrointestinal tract is highly undesirable
Step 2
Check the nipple for integrity. Replace it with a new one if necessary. It is optimal to change the nipple every 2-3 months. Make sure it is appropriate for the child's age. So the number of holes on the nipple for a baby creates a flow of formula or milk that is not suitable for feeding an older baby, and vice versa
Step 3
Prepare the mixture strictly following the sequence of actions indicated in the instructions. Give your baby only freshly prepared food
Step 4
If you are going to give your baby expressed milk from the refrigerator, warm it up just before feeding. To check the temperature of the liquid, apply a small drop to your wrist. Milk should not be hot or cold
Step 5
Sit with your baby in your arms so that he is as comfortable as possible. Make sure that his tongue is under the nipple, and his lips cover it at the very base. To prevent the baby from swallowing air with food, hold the bottle in an inclined position. Otherwise, the air, collecting in the stomach, will take up part of its volume and cause a false feeling of satiety. And when, after a couple of minutes, the baby vomits up air, he will feel hunger again
Step 6
After feeding is complete, hold your baby upright by stroking or lightly patting his back with your hand until he regurgitates. Wipe the baby's face with a clean cloth, removing food debris
Step 7
After eating, rinse the bottle and teat in warm water. Do not use abrasive detergents to wash or clean children's tableware.
