Care should be taken when choosing feeding bottles. They may contain toxic substances that will affect your baby's health in the future. Therefore, you first need to study the instructions for the bottle and carefully examine it in order to make the right decision.
Instructions
Step 1
Read the composition of the bottle material on the label. Children's tableware made of glass is considered safe for a child. It washes well, is durable, because does not change color and does not deform after repeated sterilization. The plastic feeding bottle must be free of BPA, which is harmful to human health. It is better to take models made of polypropylene and polyethylene. Glass bottles are suitable for babies in the first months of life. And in the future, get plastic dishes that are lighter than glass and will not crack on impact.
Step 2
See what the nipple is made of. Latex can cause allergies in the baby, so it is preferable to buy silicone nipples. They are absolutely safe for babies. They are not soft like latex and do not change shape after prolonged use. Take a transparent pacifier, without a brown tint.
Step 3
Pay attention to the anti-colic bottles with a valve system. They differ depending on the manufacturer. In some models, the valves may be located at the bottom, in others - on the nipple. During feeding, there is no vacuum inside the colic-resistant bottles due to the fact that the valves allow air into the container, creating ventilation. In this way, continuous feeding is created and the teat does not stick together. An anti-colic bottle will not be superfluous in at least one copy.
Step 4
Decide on the size and number of bottles. If the baby is breastfed, 2 bottles will be enough: small (100-150 ml) for drinking and large (250-300 ml) for liquid food. A bottle-fed baby will need 2 small and 5 large bottles.
Step 5
Check the bottle cap. He must close the nipple tightly so that the liquid does not spill out of the bottle. This is important when you have to go for long walks and take milk / formula with you.
