The advantages of the slings are undeniable: the baby feels comfortable next to his mother, it is comfortable for him to sleep and eat even during a walk, and the parents' hands are freed. The simplicity of a sling's design is directly proportional to its ease of use. Any mother can make a device for carrying a child on her own.

It is necessary

  • - dense fabric;
  • - 2 rings with a diameter of 5-6 cm.

Instructions

Step 1

Pick up the fabric. The material should be firm, but not rough. Plain calico will do, but keep in mind that it can slide over outerwear. Therefore, make a cotton sling for home, and jacquard or thick knitwear for walking.

Step 2

Choose the model of the sling you will be making. The easiest way is to fasten a scarf with a length of 2.5-3 m and a width of 0.5 m on the rings. Buy a fabric that is the right width to avoid overlapping edges. Pick up plastic, bamboo or metal rings with an inner diameter of 5-6 cm.

Step 3

For easy knotting, narrow the ends of the scarf or cut them off at an angle for beautiful draperies. Finish the edges of the sling. Make a shallow dart in the middle of the canvas, you will need it to find the center of the scarf if you need to put it on in transport.

Step 4

Thread one end of the sling through both rings, fold the edge over and slide through one ring. Pull up the fabric so that the short end is 40 cm long. Place the edge of the ring sling on your shoulder, leaving the short edge on your back. Straighten the folds.

Step 5

Wrap the long end of the sling around your back and pass through both rings from the bottom. Bend the scarf forward and skip backwards into one ring. Unfold the resulting pocket and tighten or loosen as needed.

Step 6

Sew a sling pattern with fixed rings. To do this, lay folds at one end of the fabric, pull both rings through the fabric. Fold the fabric and place a few stitches close to the rings to support the baby's weight.

Step 7

Undercut the free end of the sling. Sew a velcro or zip pocket for small items. When putting on the free end of the scarf, pass through both rings and return through one. Pull up the pocket to make it comfortable for the child to sit or lie down, straighten the drapery.

Step 8

For an older baby, make a double sling with a foam pad. First, sew a shoulder pad. Fix the rings on it, put foam rubber or batting inside the part. Do not sew up the edge of the pad yet.

Step 9

Sew the main fabric 1 m wide and 2, 5-3 m long and turn out to the right side. Fold in the folds on one side, insert them into the free edge of the shoulder pad, and sew.

Step 10

Cut out a piece of 50-100 cm from thin foam rubber. Insert the foam rubber closer to the free end, lay stitches along the edge of the sling. Process the free end of the blade. As you can see, making the sling itself, even with a foam insert, is not difficult.
