Small children grow up very quickly, and I really want to dress up my daughters in a new dress every day. You can update and supplement the baby's wardrobe yourself by sewing the dress yourself. Even for those who are not friends with patterns, this task will not seem overwhelming.
Instructions
Step 1
Start with a pattern. To do this, take a child's T-shirt that is the right size for the future dress. It will be the basis for cutting out.
Step 2
Find old wallpaper or any paper that works for your pattern. Iron the T-shirt with an iron so that it flattens well, and lay it over the wallpaper. Draw a pencil around it. You will get the silhouette of the future dress.
Step 3
Make sure that the shoulders on the dress pattern are beveled, the bottom of the product should be rounded. In addition, the dress should diverge to the sides, starting from the armpits to the edge, like a trapeze.
Step 4
Make seam allowances. Step back 2 cm from the contours of the dress and trace the entire pattern again with a pencil. So you get the final contours of the product with allowances for all the necessary seams: side and shoulder seams, as well as with allowances for the hem, neckline and armholes (for hem).
Step 5
Divide the pattern in half. Thus, the finished product will come out symmetrical. Cut the folded pattern along the fold line. The pattern for the future dress is ready.
Step 6
Choose the material for your child's clothing. Then transfer the pattern to it. To do this, put it on a cloth and circle it with chalk, first on one side, then on the other (mirrored). In this case, it is important to move them in the middle end-to-end one to the other. As a result, you get a detail of the front or back of the dress. Follow the same process to create another part.
Step 7
Lay the front and back face to face and join them with a hand seam. Then sew the product on a typewriter. Remove the rough thread.
Step 8
To make the neckline wider, and the child's head can easily pass into it, you can provide a fastener on the back in advance. To do this, when cutting out, cut the back pattern in the middle of the neckline towards the bottom of the dress. Zip up there, or fold over the edges and hem. Make a loop and sew on a button.
