There are many myths surrounding breastfeeding. They live because everything in the topic of raising a baby is very ambiguous, and in relation to natural feeding too.

It was once believed that a breastfeeding woman should follow a strict diet. Things are different now. There are some recommendations on how a young mother should eat.

Vitamins and nutrients

A woman's body is designed in such a way that with milk the baby receives all the substances and vitamins he needs. If the mother does not use them enough, then she will begin to dramatically lose weight, lose hair and teeth. The composition of breast milk practically does not change, even when a woman is very poorly nourished. Therefore, a varied diet of a nursing mother is the key to her own health.

Colic in newborn

To reduce the risk of intestinal colic, young mothers are not recommended foods that contribute to excessive gas formation: peas, legumes, corn, fresh baked goods, cucumbers, cabbage. It is also not particularly beneficial for a breastfed baby if the mother eats grapes and raisins. This fruit enhances digestion and contributes to colic and diarrhea in the newborn.

Instead of baking, you can eat lingering biscuits "Maria" or "Zoo" with tea. It is believed that it is easier to digest and does not contribute to the formation of gas in the baby, and this cookie is not too sweet, which reduces the risk of allergies.

Doctors do not advise nursing mothers to use hot spices in their kitchens, or to fry dishes too much. Sharp and fatty loads the liver of both the mother herself and her baby. Mushrooms are also too heavy food for a young mother.

Dairy products are extremely necessary for a young mother, as they provide calcium intake. If they are not in the diet, then caries will quickly begin, hair will fall out and nails will exfoliate. After all, calcium for a child will still go into milk, only this will happen by washing it out of the mother's body.

However, you also need to be careful with whole milk. In its pure form, it often provokes colic or causes allergies. It is better to cook porridge on it, and also eat cottage cheese with sour cream every day.

Baby allergy

Newborns are extremely prone to allergies. With age, her risk decreases. But while digestion is just getting better (about 3 months), even harmless foods can cause a reaction on the baby's skin. A nursing mother should not get carried away with sweet, whole milk, chocolate, bright fruits and vegetables (especially red and orange colors), pink and red fish, foods containing flavors, dyes and preservatives. Everything in the mother's diet should be as natural as possible. Vegetables are preferably white or green. The same principle holds true for complementary foods.

The fish must be on the table of a nursing woman. It is desirable that these are low-fat varieties of white fish: cod, halibut, hake, telapia, etc.

Chicken also often causes allergies in children. Rabbit and turkey are considered the most low-allergenic. It is such meat that a mother who breastfeeds her baby can safely cook for herself. But you shouldn't forget about beef either. It is red meat that is the source of iron.

The basic principle of choosing low-allergenic foods: you must eat those vegetables and fruits that grow in a given climate. If a mother and child live in the south, then they may well consume a large number of watermelons, melons and bananas, because more than one generation has been eating them. But a family from the north should not do this, their body is genetically accustomed to fewer fruits.

The mother's diet for breastfeeding should be varied. This will ensure her well-being, adequate milk supply and health. If, being pregnant, a woman has changed to proper nutrition, then it will not be difficult for her to adjust her diet while breastfeeding. And from the moment of complementary feeding, such a mother will not have to rebuild much, because all these tips will remain in force in relation to the baby.
