When a woman is planning a baby, she wants to know about pregnancy as early as possible. There are some signs that can be observed even before a delay in menstruation, but these signs cannot reliably speak about the onset of pregnancy. But the studies that are carried out after the delay will help you find out exactly whether conception has occurred or not.

Necessary

  • - thermometer;
  • - pregnancy test;
  • - blood analysis;
  • - the doctor's consultation;

Instructions

Step 1

The subjective signs of pregnancy include nausea, weakness, drowsiness, irritability. A change in the condition of the breast is also noted - it becomes heavier and the nipples become more sensitive to touch. You can experience these sensations before the delay in menstruation, but they do not always speak of the onset of pregnancy. Often this condition is a consequence of psychological stress, especially if you have been trying to have a child for a long time.

Step 2

After the first day of delay, start recording your basal temperature. To do this, after sleep, without getting out of bed, measure the temperature in the vagina or rectum for 5 minutes. If the basal temperature exceeds 37 ° C for several days, then there is a chance that pregnancy has come. This symptom is also indirect, so during pregnancy, the basal temperature may be lower, especially if there is a threat of interruption.

Step 3

Pregnancy tests sold in pharmacies are highly accurate. They can be used from the first days of missed periods. With their help, the presence of chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that appears during pregnancy, is determined in the urine. If the test shows a positive result, then the probability of pregnancy is close to 100%, if the result is negative, then repeat the test after 1-2 days, perhaps the sensitivity of the test is not enough.

Step 4

More precisely, the level of hCG can be determined by a blood test. You can do it in almost any private laboratory. If the indicator of this hormone is below normal for the expected duration of pregnancy, then repeat it after two days. An increase in the level of the hormone twice speaks of a successful pregnancy.

Step 5

A reliable way to determine the presence of pregnancy is ultrasound diagnostics. With the help of a transvaginal ultrasound, a doctor can detect a fertilized egg as early as two weeks after the intended conception. But it is more advisable to go for an ultrasound scan already at a period of about 4 weeks after conception, since before this period the embryo is poorly visible, and you can only confirm the presence of the ovum and say whether it is in the uterus or in the tube. Therefore, an early ultrasound scan should be done in cases where you know about a predisposition to an ectopic pregnancy or when the question of maintaining the pregnancy is being decided.
