When the baby is two years old, you can safely start teaching him to distinguish colors. Some children learn and name colors quickly, but most toddlers need constant activities to help them learn them.
Instructions
Step 1
Buy colored pencils, or markers and a sketchbook. Take it and be sure to voice which pencil you took. Draw the sun and say that it is yellow, the grass is green, the clouds are blue. Encourage your toddler to pick up a pencil and draw on his own. You can also use plasticine to teach colors. Try to buy bright primary colors first - red, blue, green, yellow, black. Subsequently, when the child learns these colors, gradually add others.
Step 2
Read children's books. Looking at the illustrations, explain what is depicted in the picture, explaining what color the hero has a hat, eyes, clothes. Repeat the colors every time you read the book. Ask your child what color this or that object is drawn. If he finds it difficult to answer, give hints.
Step 3
Role-play. Wear bright scarves, hats, socks and other clothes, say what color they are. Ask the child to find and put on blue socks or a red blouse too. Don't be nervous if your toddler doesn't understand and does it wrong. Gradually he will remember colors and amaze you.
Step 4
Accentuate your everyday life with colors. Does mom paint her nails? Tell me what color the varnish is. Going for a walk? Sound the color of the car passing by. Are you in a store together? Tell us what color the vegetables and fruits are.
Step 5
Remember to continually focus on colors and repeat at every opportunity. With their daily repetition, the baby will quickly remember and will be happy to name them himself.
