Borsch is a favorite soup in many families. It is not surprising that some mothers and grandmothers try to "introduce" their babies to this dish quite early, from about eight months. Is it possible?
What is recommended for children at 8 months
According to the recommendations of pediatricians, babies should begin to master meat at eight months. First - in the form of mashed potatoes, bought in the store or prepared at home by mom. Of the varieties, rabbit and turkey are preferred.
By this time, children usually already eat vegetable and fruit purees, as well as special children's cereals. Pediatricians and nutritionists also recommend giving yolk at 8 months of age. From drinks - so far only water and juices intended for babies.
The sequence of the first soups is suitable from about the tenth month of the baby's life. And at first, these are low-fat vegetable puree soups, which are prepared from products already familiar to the child. It is not recommended to use beets until you are sure that you are not allergic to this vegetable.
Meat broths should be completely eliminated at first. They irritate the gastrointestinal tract of the baby, and can also negatively affect the pancreas and kidneys.
It is clear that the borscht that mom and dad eat is in no way suitable for a small child.
What should be the first borscht
If the baby already eats meat, potatoes and beets without any problems, you can switch to borscht. But you need to cook a special soup.
General recommendations:
- do not include in the recipe foods to which the child is allergic;
- cook in bottled water, no salt;
- Boil meat for soup in advance, and then add to the finished dish. Don't use pork;
- do not sauté vegetables for borscht;
- do not put bell peppers, tomatoes in borscht;
- serve without sour cream.
For the first borscht, you can use this recipe. Prepare some (100-150 g) rabbit fillets. From vegetables we take one small carrot and one potato, half a beet, and a little cauliflower. Cooking like this:
- Boil the meat in boiling water for an hour. Without salt! Cool down.
- Rinse the vegetables. Peel the beets, carrots and potatoes.
- Cut the potatoes into pieces and boil them in two glasses of drinking water (10 minutes). Carefully remove the foam that forms on the surface.
- Add grated carrots and beets and cauliflower. Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes or more.
- Meanwhile, cut the finished meat into cubes and add to the finished borschik.
- When the soup is warm, puree with a blender.
