In many cities, there are no wheelchairs at the entrances of houses. Therefore, many mothers have to bring baby carriages for walks into their apartments. And since it is completely inconvenient to remove and wash the wheels of the stroller after each walk with the baby, there is always a need for wheel covers.

Wheel covers are not sold with the stroller. And not everywhere you can buy them separately. In this case, the question invariably arises: how to sew a cover for the stroller wheels?

Necessary

  • sewing machine,
  • overlock (if any),
  • the cloth,
  • rubber,
  • threads,
  • scissors,
  • tape measure,
  • crayon
  • ruler.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a fabric. The fabric is preferably waterproof, rubberized. It is better to choose dark colors.

Step 2

Measure the circumference of the wheel on your stroller. In the example shown, the wheel circumference is 98cm. Add 4cm to the wheel diameter.

98+4=102.

Step 3

Measure the width of the wheel tire. (In the example, it turned out to be 5cm).

Measure the height of the tire (In this example, it is 4, 5 cm. You can round this value to 5 cm). Add another 10cm to the height of the tire on each side.

Step 4

Provide a visual diagram of the future cover. Its length is 102cm plus 1cm for a seam allowance on both sides = 104cm.

The width is 25cm (5cm in the middle and 10cm on both sides for the fold). Add to this 2cm on both sides for the hem for the elastic.

25+4=29.

Step 5

Smooth and unfold the fabric.

Cut 4 rectangles out of the fabric, based on the measurements you made (here it turns out 104/29).

Step 6

Overlock all the edges of the rectangles. If you do not have an overlock, sew the edges with a zigzag sewing machine. This will prevent the edges from "fringing".

Step 7

Fold the resulting strips in half across, right sides to each other. Align the edges carefully. Secure with pins or baste. Sew at 1cm from the edge. Remove the pins (basting). Iron the seams.

Step 8

Hem the elastic on both sides of the fabric. Sketch. Sew, leaving a small distance so that you can later thread the elastic. In this way, sew all 4 covers.

Step 9

Insert elastic on both sides of the case. Insert the elastic into the rest of the covers.

Step 10

Put on the wheel covers. Now it will always be clean in your apartment or in the trunk of your car.
