Instructions

Step 1

Check with the pediatrician at the hospital if your child is receiving formula from the first days of life.

Step 2

Ask what formula the baby is fed in the hospital. It is not recommended to change the mixture. If your baby tolerates it well, continue to feed this formula after leaving the hospital. As the child grows, the local pediatrician will prescribe you a subsequent milk meal from the same manufacturer or transfer to another product.

Step 3

Check with your local pediatrician if you haven't fed your baby before. For healthy children from 0 to 6 months, the doctor will prescribe a highly adapted milk formula with the number 1. This can be Frisolak 1, Nestogen 1, Baby 1, Nutrilon 1, Nutrilak 1, Hipp 1, etc. Healthy children after six months are transferred to subsequent mixtures of the same manufacturer, marked 2.

Step 4

Tell your doctor if your baby has colic, constipation, or stool problems. For such a child, the doctor may prescribe a special mixture containing prebiotics and other beneficial substances. Therapeutic mixtures are aimed at normalizing the stool and digestion of the baby. The most common milk formulas of this type are Nutrilon Comfort, Semper Bifidus, Nan Comfort, Frisovoy. It can also be fermented milk mixtures.

Step 5

See an allergist if your baby has a rash or other reactions to formula. The child may be allergic to milk protein. The doctor will test for allergens. Hypoallergenic formulas with partially hydrolyzed cow's milk protein are usually suitable for most of these children. For children with severe allergies, a complete milk protein hydrolyzate or goat milk-based formula is prescribed.

Step 6

Follow your doctor's advice carefully if your baby is born weak, underweight, or premature. For these children, there are special milk formulas marked "Pre". More nutritious in composition, they promote growth and rapid weight gain. When the baby reaches 3-4 kg, the doctor will prescribe you the usual milk formula for healthy children.

Step 7

Do not change the formula for another if the child eats well and tolerates it well. Changing the milk formula can lead to digestive problems, constipation, and allergic reactions. If you want to transfer your baby to a more budgetary version of the mixture, be sure to inform the pediatrician about it - he will choose the most suitable option in terms of composition.
