Most parents are afraid of the transitional age in children. There are stereotypes that this period must necessarily be associated with many problems that become the reasons for quarrels, scandals and rash actions. However, it is not worth generalizing all people in this case. The transitional age does not occur at a strictly defined age and passes for everyone individually.

What is adolescence

In a broad sense, transitional age is the moment when a child turns into a teenager. From a psychological point of view, this period is defined as the child's desire to master adult life, the desire to be as independent as possible from parents and to take a certain place in society.

The transitional age is also associated with a piquant moment - during this period, a teenager reaches puberty. Most often, this fact becomes the cause of constant experiences and, accordingly, conflicts with the people around.

Transitional age in girls

In girls, the transitional age begins several years earlier than in boys. Puberty in them is expressed in the onset of menstruation and a change in body proportions. At the same time, psychological restructuring of the organism takes place. In girls, puberty lasts only one to two years, while in boys it can even drag on for five years.

Girls during adolescence begin to be critical of their appearance. This is due not only to the traditional appearance of acne, which cause a lot of discomfort, but also to a feeling of unrequited love.

The transitional age for girls usually occurs from 10 to 14 years old. However, there are exceptions that relate not only to the age of onset of puberty, but also to the behavior of girls. Some young women are delighted with the process of breast augmentation or rounding of the hips.

Transitional age in boys

In boys, transitional age occurs, as a rule, in the period from 12 to 20 years. Most often it is celebrated at the age of 14-18. The most unusual change in the body for a teenager is the formation of sexual functions. The release of characteristic chemicals can be accompanied by sudden mood swings and sudden attacks of aggression. The boy does not understand what is happening to him, and he perceives all changes too painfully. Some adolescents cannot cope with their sex drive, which gives them a sense of discomfort.

general information

Regardless of the age at which the transitional age occurs, most often it becomes the cause of numerous problems. The child is almost constantly in an irritated state. The task of parents is to provide maximum support and try to distract the teenager from problems. Talk to your child more, but do not try to exert psychological pressure or pressure. Otherwise, it can get to the point that your child decides to leave home in search of adulthood. Such an act will turn into serious trouble.

Do not think that absolutely all children become unruly and problematic during adolescence. Often there are cases when parents do not even notice this period.
