Victory Day is celebrated annually on May 9 in all cities of Russia. Mass celebrations are held in Moscow on this day, people lay flowers at monuments, tourists with children come to the capital to visit historical sites and congratulate veterans. This holiday is very important, since more and more time has passed since the Great Patriotic War, and it is necessary to preserve and transmit the memory of the great feat of our ancestors. That is why many teachers and parents take a responsible approach so that children on this day can get acquainted with important historical sites and monuments dedicated to this great holiday.
Every year in Moscow, a solemn Victory Parade is held on Red Square, in which servicemen of various types of troops take part. Red Square itself is accessible only by special invitations, but anyone can look at the military equipment moving into the center. As a rule, the column follows in the morning along Tverskaya Street, where a lot of people gather. After the parade, children will be able to congratulate the veterans, lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden and take part in festivities. On Victory Day, it is especially interesting to visit Poklonnaya Gora, where the whole memorial complex dedicated to the Great Patriotic War is located. Various historical memorials are displayed in Victory Park and an exhibition of military equipment is open for viewing. It will be extremely informative to visit the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, which includes an extensive art gallery. Many museums in Moscow also highlight the theme of the Great Patriotic War. With your child, you can visit the State Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, where the costumed excursion "How Our Grandfathers Fought" is especially noteworthy, the Defense Museum, where they tell about the events of the Moscow battle of 1941-1942, the Central Museum of the Armed Forces, where the annual event takes place on May 9. In addition, many other cultural institutions organize exhibitions for Victory Day; Moscow also hosts many art and photography exhibitions on a military theme. On the streets of the capital, you can visit many memorials dedicated to the war and prominent figures participating in the events of 1941-1945. In the center of the city there are such architectural works as: the obelisk "In honor of the 20th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War" on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, the memorial "To the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War" on Ostozhenka. There are also sculptures and busts of prominent personalities who contributed to the hostilities: a monument to Gastello, Marshal Zhukov, Zoya and Alexander Kosmodemyansky. Mass events and music programs on the occasion of Victory Day are held in all major parks and in central squares: Tverskaya, Lubyanskaya, Teatralnaya square, in the park of culture and recreation. Gorky, in the Fili park, in Sokolniki, in the Izmailovsky park. In many, even small squares, there are memorial plaques and architectural works on a military theme, to which schoolchildren and everyone else lay flowers on this holiday. One of the main events of Victory Day is the evening fireworks over the city, which will be the most spectacular if you watch it from Poklonnaya Gora or Red Square.
