At 28 weeks, the baby's body length is 35 cm, and his weight is slightly more than a kilogram. By the end of the third trimester of pregnancy, the growth of the fetus reaches 50-55 cm, and the weight is three to four kilograms.

In the third trimester, the child has already formed all the vital organs, therefore, most babies born even prematurely after 28 weeks, thanks to the care of experienced doctors, survive and do not have developmental disabilities.

During the third trimester of pregnancy, various organs mature, in particular the lungs and the nervous system, and subcutaneous fat accumulates. It is during this period that the most active weight gain occurs, the baby's skin is smoothed and becomes pinkish.

As a rule, a few weeks before delivery, the baby is turned head down, which is called a cephalic presentation. This placement of the baby in the uterus is most favorable for natural childbirth. In about five percent of cases, the head of the fetus may remain at the top, or the baby is placed across the uterus.

The tremors of the fetus in the third trimester of pregnancy become so strong that they can be noticed even from the outside. By 36 weeks of gestation, the movements become smoother, and more like somersaults and flips.

In the third trimester of pregnancy, the fetus makes training movements with the diaphragm and abdominal wall, but more often these movements go unnoticed for the mother. But the hiccups of the fetus cannot be confused with jolts and somersaults, it is very well felt by the pregnant woman.

In the last month, the fetus sinks, penetrating its head lower into the mother's pelvis. This happens most often two to three weeks before delivery.
