A follicular cyst is a benign tumor that develops from the dominant follicle after the absence of ovulation. This disease occurs in 83% of women, most of whom are of childbearing age. The appearance of this disease, when the cyst reaches a large size, is accompanied by bursting pain in the lower abdomen, which increases significantly after physical exertion. Often, with this disease, there is a complete absence of the menstrual cycle.

As mentioned above, the formation of a cyst occurs due to the lack of ovulation. In most cases, pregnancy does not occur with this disease. There are cases when ovulation occurs in the second ovary. In this case, women can become pregnant, but such cases are quite rare. Therefore, in order to conceive a child, it is necessary to treat this disease.

In order to determine whether this disease is present or not, you need to undergo a full gynecological examination. In addition, carry out hormonal research and ultrasound. If, after the studies, there are doubts about the diagnosis, it is recommended to carry out diagnostic laparoscopy.

A follicular cyst does not always require treatment. In most cases, small cysts, which do not exceed 5 cm in size, disappear on their own before the next cycle begins. If its size is large, which persists for two months or more, then in this case, therapy is required. Treatment includes a range of interventions, including the use of hormonal drugs, anti-inflammatory therapy, physical therapy, and, if necessary, surgery.
